It was such an incredible experience watching the Emerging Designer Showcase during Fiji Fashion Week.
The show was held at the iconic Grand Pacific Hotel. The Grand Old Lady recently celebrated it’s 100th anniversary, and it’s incredible history was the perfect backdrop to showcase the potential of the future of the Fijian fashion industry.
Also thank you to my girls Asena Rokotuiwai, Liku Gukilau, Vasiti Radekedeke and Asena Waleilakeba for such an incredible evening!
Listen to yourself and in that quietude you might hear the voice of God - Maya Angelou
We woke up today to the sad news of the passing of Dr. Maya Angelou. She was a great voice in literature, truly the essence of a Renaissance woman.
Maya Angelou’s greatest legacy, in my humble opinion, is the way she taught us to not only find the greatness in ourselves, but to be a facilitator in helping others find the greatness in themselves.
As she so eloquently put, when the great Nelson Mandela passed last year, "no sun outlasts the sunset, but will rise again and bring the dawn." We have been so wonderfully fortunate to have shared this world with her, and despite being thousands of miles away her work towards feminism and equality is felt in our corner of the world.
Now as her song and soul has been "flung up to heaven" we remain grateful and celebrate the dawn that Maya Angelou’s sun has brought.
Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
